I’m Erica (she/her) - writer and photographer living and creating in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Australia. Scottish-blooded and Queensland-born - you can usually find me with my feet in the sand, ocean or soil.

For a long time, I didn’t know what I was. Artist - when I gave myself permission to be, writer – yes, and no. I am supposed to say yes. What is a writer? Someone who bleeds onto the page, I think I read somewhere. In which case, yes. Off-kilter, off-centre. Not anchored to this earth. Hypersensitive. Everything on both sides of the thick seam. Double Scorpio. Recovering perfectionist. Trying to weave my crossed brain-wires into some kind of narrative. I’m not sure if that makes me self-aware, brave or crazy. You can decide. If I’m acting strange, just wait a day. Or six months. Memoirist, fractured essayist. Reluctant owner of a Moleskine. Anti-photographer, flouter of rules, blur-obsessive, freelenser, duende seeker, playlist fiend—drawn to ethereal, strange imagery and the mouthfeel of a beautiful sentence. If you try to grip me, I will turn to water.

Posts are mostly free, but paywalled after five weeks. I’ve kept subscriptions as low as I can - a couple of dollars a month. Art & writing is my life, so I really appreciate your support. x
